What the shift of manufacturing to Southeast Asia means for trade software
The headline story is relocation. The data tells a subtler one: supply chains are not leaving China, they are getting longer. Components still flow out of Guangdong and Zhejiang, assembly increasingly happens in Vietnam and Indonesia, and finished goods ship to the same end markets as before.
A longer chain means more hand-offs, more customs filings, more currencies and more counterparties who have never worked together. Each of those is a coordination problem, and most are still solved with spreadsheets and chat groups.
We expect the winners in this market to be regional by design: products that assume a Chinese supplier, a Southeast Asian factory and a Western buyer are all users of the same workflow.
